Helping others to be their best has been the driving force of Alex’s career path. With 15 years of experience in the non-profit and education fields, Alex has served others in many ways to help them maximize their potential. In 2022, Alex stepped into the Chief Operating Officer role at Shelterhouse, where he collaborates with the leadership team to identify operational efficiencies and implement organizational strategies that advance the mission of providing basic human services for the men and women of the Greater Cincinnati area who are experiencing homelessness.
Alex first stepped into his nonprofit administration path in 2018 as Executive Director at UpSpring, an organization that empowers children experiencing homelessness through education and enrichment programming. Prior to leading UpSpring, he served as the organization’s Program Director, providing direct service to the children enrolled in their Summer 360° day camp and the various after school program sites. Between 2008-2015, Alex held a variety of roles in the education field including: Adjunct Instructor at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College; Cincinnati Public School Board of Education Board Member, President, and Vice President; Certified Teacher at the Boys & Girls Club; and Education Specialist at Lighthouse Youth Crisis Center.
His volunteer work currently includes coaching with Soccer Association for Youth and serving on the Board of Directors for School Board School. Alex earned his A.A.S. in Early Childhood Ed, a B.S. in Integrated Social Studies Education, and an M.Ed in Mental Health Counseling & Human Development.
