Jasmine’S Story
The self-reflection that's built into our curriculum helped Jasmine realize that she wanted her day job to be one where her work would directly impact the multiple systems affecting our students. She changed jobs during School Board School to work as the Director of Community Affairs at Cincinnati City Councilmember P.G. Sittenfeld’s office. She has worked on issues from environmental health to supporting small businesses and recently, she was featured in national news publications for legislation she helped introduce outlawing discrimination based on natural hair.
Tim’m’s Story
Tim’m became passionate about the impact that a school’s governing body, called the Local School Decision Making Committee (LSDMC), can have on a school’s culture and academic outcomes. He joined his neighborhood school’s LSDMC and is now the committee Chair. In that position, he led a coalition of the school’s staff and members of the surrounding community to bring local artists into the school to share their talents with students, and he is also helping school staff use data to drive academic improvement.
